Certain Bible verses personally impacting

Memorizing & Meditating: There is so much great reading in the Bible that if I selectively mediate on them I believe a person can have a very emotional, even  ecstatic, experience.

I knew one such person who experienced a similar event while reading Galatians. It has become one of mine now, ranking high on my list of favorite verses I print up and read and reread often. For me it is an unlikely verse. It is one of my prayer verses.

In Galatians are the fruits of the Spirit against which there is no law. They said while reading the passage about the fruits of the Spirit they were consumed from their head down to the chest by an overwhelming  sensation of pleasure. 

They pleaded with me to remember the verse because they thought they would not remember it. I forgot it but years later, I do not recall how many, I suddenly did remember not too far back by the key word fruits.

I treasure it for this reason and it has captured me emotionally ever since. What an experience from such a plain ordinary verse! Gal 5:22-23

Only Way to Obtain Greater Faith

Agreeing with an emotional subjective sermon does not quite make any great faith in my sense of things. Sometimes the name of Jesus nor anyone else is ever even mentioned as I noted earlier.

But emotion is power even so, when abused in one/s views just the same. This thread is "maybe" finished when a headline is fixed. 

The only way to gain greater faith or even faith at all. is to read the Bible. This is said clearly and simply in the Bible itself. I would only add that one should read often and to reread a list of one's favorite verses over and over, studying them and meditating on them, taking them in, and enjoying them emotionally.

Deciding If Faith Will Fold

But Not Today

I believe one can be born again while still in the flesh. The idea I am in this changing world of the flesh is for that very reason, to entrance my unchanging spiritual existence.

So I am in this changing world of the flesh but what if I am, even slightly, reticent to fully  embrace or accept the unchanging eternity of the spiritual? I think many wonder, that is that the flesh does not want to lose any life or give anything up instinctually.

But, even if not, can I make it happen true by belief  solely alone, by believing strongly enough? 

So I, as I've observed before, I fully know and accept the fact that I will die someday, but not today! 

I strongly sense I am in a loop, where I unknowingly assume I will live forever. Has God ordained that time is going to fool me every single time or am I going to

So if it does not matter, even if it were not pre-true, a charismatic believer could believe it into existence?

But Can the Flesh Get Me Out?

We can die at any time, starting even while being born with a blank tablet. All blank tablets have mothers. If she is a druggy then blank tablet starts as a druggy. Say hello to original sin.

Jesus reminds us that the flesh will not help us. It is also recorded that God is only pleased by faith. I was always taken by logic but that is not faith either when I get down to it.

Favorite Verses

So I live as long as I live. The longer the more likely, if I hit a hundred, that I'll be lonely a very short time. That is to say, not forever, like say from 15 and a half to sixteen.

So thing is, I have a friend We talk a lot, but we do not agree on anything but food. Tomorrow I'll figure out if pain can make any difference.

Manna Redux

Reading Sarah Young's, forever and ever all time best seller, God Calling on my Kindle is redirecting my attention to Manna one the best of my favorite Bible verses. 

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that outwardly out weighs them all. Paul's letter to the Corinthians 4:16-17

Who would I pick to write the large heart of the Bible? How about someone spending his money, and his time, to kill, too murder even, those who believed in God?

On top of that he was a terrible speaker. Apollos was well regarded as a tremendous speaker on the other hand, convincing many. 

I would have thought the Gospel writer, John, who wrote the love book, so different from the other Gospels. 

Then there is Peter, the first pope remember, who walked on water, asked Jesus about how long John would live, remember that? Jesus told the first Pope to mind his own business. Paul, the worst possible candidate, got the nod from God.

All Things Seen 

First Came From the Unseen

I want to be more sensitive to the unseen spiritual events that are inevitably my due offing, while at the same time living out my wasting physical life in the seen world.

It has been said so well before, while crossing the Sea of Lethe, that is the sea of forgetfulness. The more I store up for this changing world the less it will mean anything in the end.

Time fooled me like it does everyone, why would not the necessities do the same? As the unlikely Paul wrote to the Corinthians (4:18) do not fix our eyes on the seen because the seen is temporary.  Rather, search out the unseen because the unseen is eternal.

Transcending Forces

I like verses that ease me into focusing on the transcending spiritual world rather than the over riding decaying physical world. In this setting Paul contrasts the temporal and the eternal, in 2nd Corinthians 4:18

Pitfalls Learning to Accept Jesus

I, for myself, am not convinced I am right, nor am I that I might be wrong. We all speak for our own benefit, along with myself as well, of that I am certain.

I think it somehow significant that twice in my life I heard this identical sermon, the first time about to graduate high school and the second time in retirement.

First one was about this chap whose mother scrubbed floors to put her son thru college. She died and he had forgotten all about her. Sobbing, he fell weeping on her grave. 

And the second was about a girl who ran away to the city for the attractions of loose living and returned asking her town to tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree if they wanted her to get off the bus.

Well I tell you these were two classic tear jerkers I've ever heard. No religious aspect was ever mentioned, not the Baby Jesus, nor any other possible religious aspect. 

Yet, still and all, after both these two sermons everyone was suddenly asked whether anyone wanted to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. 

I do not know what happened after the first event, we older kids were asked to step outside. But the second event was greeted with stone silence. That's all folks!
